Apology

The thesis due date is right around the corner...this means that half of welldressedwes has become a social pariah. It also explains the lack of updates. However, come April 12th, we hope to be back in full swing. So put on your pretty spring clothes and frolic on the hill. See you there.

Best,

Fashion Icon: Keith Richards

Our newest feature here at Well Dressed Wes is profiling a male and female fashion icon each week. We will try to pick people whose personal styles are original and could function as inspiration for someone working with a college budget. Our first male icon is the legendary guitarist of the Rolling Stones, Keith Richards.

Keith has been the fashion face of rock & roll since the 1960s and continues to be a constant source of inspiration for the fashion world. It is Keith, not Kate Moss, who we really have to thank for drainpipe trousers. And of course, the pirate character Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) borrows Keith's kohl-rimmed eyes, skull rings, trinket-strewn hair and general swagger.

Keith has had one form or another of a distinct highwayman-cum-gypsy core style over the decades, but our personal favorite incarnation was Keith during the late 60s-early 70s, particularly during the Stones' "exile" to Villa Nellcôte in the South of France. The photos of Keith from this time, taken by Dominique Tarlé, are especially fabulous.

More images of Keith from the late 60s-early 70s:

With John Lennon at the Rock and Roll Circus:

For more on Keith Richards, check out the Maysles' documentary "Gimme Shelter" about the 1969 concert at Altamont gone wrong. In this film you will see Keith wearing the most ridiculous pair of python skin boots.

Welldressedwes does winterbreak

We all know that winterbreak means business; from fabulous New Years outfits to shopping the sales to working the holiday party scene, fashion is in the air. So, since we can't bear to miss it all, here's our proposition:

SEND US YOUR PICTURES!

You heard it, the ball is in your court. Have a friend take a picture of you in one of the fabulous outfits you always manage to pull off and send it to welldressedwes@gmail.com. We will then publish it on the site.

*Please, individual shots only (that means no group photos unless you all look damn fine together)
*Include your name and Wesleyan class year
*Give a little description of the occasion for the outfit, etc.

That's it. Have fun with it. We can't wait to see your pictures!

Joyeux Fetes!

Senior Cocktails II: Masquerade

Date: Thursday, December 7th
Venue: a hotel with a very patient staff

Spectacularly cute in a brocade French Connection dress:

Sparkling pailettes (and a patent leather clutch) are very "in" this season:

Demonstrating the James Bond-like power of a well-tailored suit:

...and the most unique men's wear we've seen all year: a tie-dyed suit!

Due to the insane nature of this night, we only managed to take these 4 photos. There were countless other looks that should have been captured, and for this we apologize. The weeks leading up to the end of school have been very busy, along with our digital camera being very disagreeable, but we hope to bring Well Dressed Wes back in full swing for the spring semester. Happy Holidays! -S&M
